You can be anything you want. seriously.
People may say things like, for example: "I suck at math". while it is true, that your brain may be naturally slower at learning math, it is false to say you will ALWAYS be bad at math.
The brain is like a muscle: with practice, it gets better. this is called neuroplasticity.
As a very simple exercise, you can try using your non-dominant hand for things, to exercise the other half of your brain that you don't use quite as often.
As a side-note. your hand dominance, for example if you are left handed, does not make you "right brained". its the other way around: meaning that your right brain is more developed BECAUSE of your hand dominance.
Researching the brain can help you to know what to do to exercise certain parts of the brain.
and don't worry, this doesn't mean geniuses can lose their abilities if they don't use them, although they can get weaker.

Researching the brain can help you to know what to do to exercise certain parts of the brain. and don't worry, this doesn't mean geniuses can lose their abilities if they don't use them, although they can get weaker. Interesting, though I recall having a conversation with some dude at a flotation tank place who said your dominant hand affect the OPPOSITE hemisphere of the brain (so, a right-handed person becomes left-brained). I didn't immediately buy into that, though it is certainly true that, as a right-hander, I am also definitely a very left-brained person a lot of the time. I don't fully buy into the idea that being right-handed makes you left-brained, though I honestly haven't researched it enough. There might be a correlation there, but not causation. I would say the primary (not the only) indicator of whether or not you become left or right-brained is cultural programming. The influence of cultural beliefs, along with 13 years in public./private modern schools, can have a HUGE steering effect on the development of the brain. Sitting in class, being forced by parents, teachers, or blackmail bribery ("get good grades, and I'll buy you that toy") can mold a child's mind into constantly using the left-brain, which is primarily what modern schools enforce. With the new "Common Core" initiative that seeks to basically eradicate all remaining right-brained school subjects (art, dance, physical education, etc.), it is clear that schools are prison-factories DESIGNED to mold the minds of children towards left-brained logicism, analysis, and pattern-seeking (as opposed to the right-brain's tendency towards feeling, the physical body, intuition, etc.). But you are certainly right: the mind IS very malleable, and you can just about become seemingly almost anything with enough effort. A LOT of effort, certainly, and the work of Tim Ferris in his book "The Four-Hour Body" is certainly an example of the malleability and potential of the human mind/body. Tim Ferris has basically mastered multiple different skills from COMPLETELY different paradigms, ranging from Spanish dancing, to learning new languages in VERY short amounts of time, and many, many other talents...

I did actually mean that left brain is right hand, and right brain is left hand, for the hemispheres of the brain control the opposite sides of the body.
what I meant when I said it was "opposite", was that: being left handed isn't a result of being right brained, but being right brained, is a result of being LEFT HANDED.
