What do you guys think? Are we just the virtually-manifested programming of a more highly-evolved entity on his future-laptop?

I used to be into this "spirituality" stuff. first the "new age" religion. then older versions of it such as Taoism, Hermeticism ect.
At first, it makes a lot of sense, and gives you a sense of meaning and an answer to life much more complex and fulfilling than any other religion.
However, I realized I was just being foolish. I don't know anything, only what science can tell me is 100% true. I was only believing it because I wanted too, pretending as if it were true, or there was scientific proof to support it. If I had a doubtful thought, I would push it to the back of my mind, and neglect it, trapping myself in just another religion.
It has VERY little validity to it, maybe reincarnation and "the matrix" concept are plausible.
overall its just placebo. A religion with all the answers is tricky to get out of.
Why does this matter to me? well, overall, religions tend to limit the things society talks about. last time I had a good philosophical discussion was.....never.

Why does this matter to me? well, overall, religions tend to limit the things society talks about. last time I had a good philosophical discussion was.....never. I agree religion is bullshit, and that there's a shitload of bullshit in the New Age/Spirituality movements. HOWEVER....lol... I came to where I am now, FROM a place of scientific empiricism and skepticism. I went deeply through my religious cycles many years ago, back in high school. I was even a Christian for a short time, though only from a place of fear and desperation because of something I was going through. Once I read Sam Harris' "The End of Faith", I was pretty solidified that science is where it's at, and that religion is horseshit. I still think religion is horseshit, but I no longer attach myself to science the way I used to. To be clear, I LOVE science, but certain portions of science today have been hijacked by profiteers and narcissists, who are much less interested in ULTIMATE TRUTH, and much more interested in pushing an egotistical agenda. The videos I post about simulation theory and "life in the matrix" are coming FROM a place of my own scientific empiricism. I've certainly never stated that I KNOW we live in a virtual reality, but I definitely keep my mind open to the possibility. If you become so much of a "skeptic" that you close your mind, then you'll never be able to see the bigger reality. That is my problem with "science" today. If science meant "open-minded skepticism", then I'm all for it. And definitely, some aspects of science DO represent this. But for the most part, it seems the "word" science (because that's what we're talking about here mostly, a "word" used to generally describe something that you and I may use in totally different ways, and thus cause a serious communication error, even though we don't actually agree at all)...the word "science" today often mean "skepticism", but no open-mindedness. To me, science is about open-minded skepticism. Pure skepticism, in my opinion, can make a person just as dogmatic and close-minded as a fervent religious person. Here's a quick video I uploaded about science and dogma: So, for me, it has been my open-minded skepticism that has led me to these theories about virtual reality. And of course, when I use the word "spirituality", I do not mean in anyway religion. Instead, I'm referring to "deeper truths". I guess you could say that when I use the word "spirituality", I really trying to say, "deeper truths", "facts about our being that transcend our current understanding of the world", etc. In some ways, that's what "metaphysics" is: the study of the world on the edges of our understanding. Which is why this forum is called "spirituality/metaphysics." In no way I am referring to religion when I say spirituality. Of course, the fact that we even have to sit here and define words in order to be on the same page just shows the limitations of language and how vague words are if not specifically clarified when speaking to people.

So true. This is definitely not the highest form of communication, nor form of being in general

I definitely believe that the materialistic plane that we as humans perceive is not the only plane of conscious existence, so in fact I am all for the simulation theory as I have personally experienced the material plane as an illusion. But my issue with the simulation theory lies within the idea that if earthly life really is just a simulation, then doesn't that mean we can all be switched off instantaneously? From there onwards it's question after question after question.
I myself believing in reincarnation can't help but question why our souls are created in the first place. My only answer is that we as humans should just live as we please because we never know when our physical existence will be ceased. We should just enjoy life I guess...
Any thoughts on existence itself?

Just watched this video. Loved it. Made me think of a book I read. It is a long read, but very worth it. You mentioned how The Big Toe book was hard to get through in another video. This one makes it easily understood. It's called "Butterflies are Free to Fly". I believe it is on Amazon. There is a blue butterfly on the front. Good luck.
